Go Grain-free to be truly Gluten-free

If I had a thyroid condition or autoimmune disease, the first thing I'd do is give up grains. Here's why:

Most of us are in agreement that gluten is inflammatory. It's linked to not just celiac but thyroid disorders, autoimmune conditions, arthritis, osteoporosis, asthma, fibromyalgia, psychological disorders and even lymphoma. A lot of folks go gluten-free in attempts to help clear up their medical condition... but don't notice a significant improvement in symptoms so they assume gluten's not the problem and resume eating those foods.

The problem is... we refer to foods as "gluten-free" if they don't contain the specific kind of gluten that causes celiac... which is what is found in wheat, oats, barley and rye. But that's just one type of gluten and there are close to 1000. Gluten is in all grains including corn and rice. Check out the chart from Dr. Peter Osborne... corn is almost as bad as wheat!

If you want to truly give gluten free a shot, you've got to give up all grains. It sounds daunting I know but if you need meal plans, I've got you! You may be shocked at how making this diet tweak may significantly improve your life.
