Non-toxic heavy metals vs toxic forms + Terrence Howard's favorite detox spray

Ever seen this warning on your supplements or other products? It can be quite concerning:

† WARNING: Consuming this product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/food.

This is California's Prop 65 Warning Label. Here's what you need to know, and when you should be concerned.

Many organic heavy metals — such as iron and zinc — occur naturally in soil. These organic heavy metals are beneficial to your health in small amounts and are not considered toxic because whatever excess your body cannot use it easily eliminates. On the other hand, heavy metals like aluminum, mercury and lead are toxic, accumulate over time and are linked to a myriad of health problems.

Unfortunately, the Prop65 warning label in the state of California does not distinguish between beneficial and toxic heavy metals, which can be very misleading when your supplements arrive with a lead warning.

When it comes to buying supplements, make sure the company does 3rd party testing for the limits pictured.
