Symptoms of Bartonella (Lyme disease coinfection)

Bartonella is a Lyme co-infection, which means it is commonly transmitted via biting insects like sand flies, ticks, lice, fleas, bed bugs, spiders, red ants and mites when they transmit Borrelia, or Lyme disease. Or in the case of Bartonella henselae, aka cat-scatch fever, it can be transmittied through the scratch of an infected cat.

It's estimated that about 28.3% of those with chronic Lyme have Bartonella as well. Bartonella targets your endothelial cells that line your blood vessels and prevents them from self destructing. It may suppress your immune cells as well. Then it protects itself in biofilm and may invade your lymph nodes.

Some of the more unique symptoms of Bartonella include: · Blurred vision · Headaches (back of your head) · Intense anxiety or depression · Memory loss · Muscle and joint pain · Pain on soles of your feet · Recurring low-grade fever · Swollen lymph nodes · Streaked skin rash · Super sensitive to stimuli (sound, food, touch, etc.)
